Cert 3 vs 4 in Fitness

Which course is right for you, the Cert III or Cert IV. Find out the differences here.

Hi, My name's Stephan of Health and Fitness. Now I'm just going to let you know the difference between Cert 3 in fitness and Cert 4 in fitness.

The Cert 3 in fitness allows you to become a gym instructor so you can work in a gym environment or as a group instructor. Taking spin classes, body comp, body tech, all that style of classes.

With Cert 4 in fitness, it allows you to go that little bit further in your career and with one-on-one or small groups as a PT so you can give that personal service.

The types of things that you will understand is that, with a PT, you've got that more one-on-one access, that more time to talk to a client and understand. Whereas, in a group environment you might be having 10, 15, 20 people at one time, all doing the same thing.

The cost difference, is at the moment, you can just do the Cert 3 which is a great course in itself and it does allow you to, as I said before, go on to do things like group instructing. Whether it's aqua or it's water aerobics as well. Just a little bit of difference there. You can go into spin classes if you like, or your body tech, body comp, step classes.

You have a lot of variety and you often get asked what do PTs do from there. It might be a good advantage for you if you don't want to do the Cert 4. With that Cert 4 it allows you a lot more information. You don't have to do the Cert 3 and Cert 4 together. You can do the Cert 3, get an understanding, get your foot in the door and then you can go into the Cert 4. You'll have a little bit more knowledge and you've probably got a job waiting for you.

Also, here at the College of Health and Fitness, we have a lot of gyms that we liaise with. They're always ringing us for, do we have a PT here or do you have a student who's almost completed their studies because we're looking for PTs.

For more information or if you'd like to throw a comment on 3385 0195 or you can email the college at enquiries@thecollegeofhealthandfitness.qld.gov.au. Thank you.
