The Certificate IV in Weight Management is one of the most exciting new courses to become available for people working in the health and fitness sphere for a long time. The College of Health and Fitness is excited to be able to offer our students access to this course because it will help them to broaden their careers into the weight management industry as a consultant or coach in a variety of health and wellness areas. The study involved will broaden students skills and knowledge, so you can provide a more holistic service to your clients. Alternatively you can create an offshoot of your existing business, attracting new clients.
Weight loss and weight management is a growing industry, 'IBISWorld reports have indicated a growth of over 14% in the demand for weight loss counselling services in just two years (2012-2014); it is estimated that nearly three-quarters of the Australian population will be overweight or obese by 2025, indicating that this increased demand is set to continue'

The course is intended to provide participants with a range of knowledge and skills to perform the following functions associated with the weight management industry:

Our students who wish to access this course can attend a 3 day face to face workshop with College Owner Tony Attridge and complete the remainder of the course online (students can also study purely online if they prefer). The face to face workshop is an excellent opportunity to engage with other students and also complete some aspects of the course with your peers.
Fitness Professionals registered with either Physical Activity Australia or Fitness Australia may be eligible for PDP or CEC recognition upon completion of this course. Graduates are also able to access insurance to cover their role as a weight management professional.

Diploma of Ayurveda Yoga Teaching
The Diploma of Ayurveda Yoga Teaching has been developed by Aligning Health (www.aligninghealth.com.au) and is delivered in partnership with the College of Health and Fitness. It is a nationally recognised (10579NAT) course that will allow you to realise your potential to become an accredited Ayurveda Yoga Teacher.
This course is for those aspiring to become Ayurveda Yoga Teachers, for the experienced Yoga Teachers who wish to deepen their practice and those who want to learn more about Ayurveda and Yoga. Our experienced trainers not only prepare you to become confident Ayurveda Yoga Teachers but strive to develop life long learners which reflect on their practice and build on their experience. The Diploma of Ayurveda Yoga Teaching is a Nationally Recognised Course accredited by ASQA (Australian Skills Quality Authority) and will be delivered through The College of Health and Fitness (RTO 30798). It is recognised by Yoga Australia and Graduates are eligible for membership and insurance with IICT (International Institute of Complementary Therapists) and Insurance House.

Group Exercise Instructor
The Group Exercise Instructor specialisation allows you to plan and instruct a group exercise class such as an aerobics or circuit class.
It gives you the knowledge to design classes to suit individual or specific group needs, including pregnancy, strength and conditioning, older population, deep water running, children, obesity etc. It provides you with the information to analyse and improve the effectiveness of water based fitness classes and observe clients’ performance and rectify technique, intensity and safety.
This specialisation gives you the knowledge and skills needed to plan, choreograph and instruct water based fitness classes in a water environment such as an indoor pool, outdoor pool, salt water pool or enclosed open water. It allows you to conduct classes using various pieces of equipment, music and techniques.
It gives you the knowledge to design classes to suit individual or specific group needs, including pregnancy, strength and conditioning, older population, deep water running, children, obesity etc. It provides you with the information to analyse and improve the effectiveness of water based fitness class and observe clients’ performance and rectify technique, intensity and safety.

HLTAID003 Provide First Aid
Accidents can happen –at work, at home, on the road, at sporting practices & events, anywhere and any time in fact.
How would it feel to be unable to assist someone injured or someone that has collapsed, especially if this person was someone you knew? Our first aid course is designed to help you gain the necessary confidence, knowledge and skill to administer first aid and possibly save someone’s life.
Some of the areas covered in this course are:
- First aid Treatment Protocol
- What to do in an Emergency
- Cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation
- Dealing with bites and stings, allergic reactions, asthma attacks, bleeding, burns, choking, diabetes, drug overdose, fits, heart attacks and poisoning.
The workbooks used in our courses follow the very latest policy statements from the Australian Resuscitation Council. They are designed to be easy to learn from and easy to refer back to at a later stage.
This is a comprehensive yet simple course designed for the everyday person.

HLTAID003 Apply First Aid (workbook + 1 day practical)
This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to provide first aid response, life support, management of casualty(s), the incident and other first aiders, until the arrival of medical or other assistance. This course is suitable for those students requiring workplace first aid skills.

HLTAID001 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
This course provides the skills to recognise and then manage a casualty who is unconscious and is not breathing.
CPR is a life saving technique which can sustain life until an ambulance arrives. A CPR refresher program must be undertaken every 12 months.
This course is delivered in partnership with Allens Training Pty Ltd RTO 90909.
Elite Fitness Boxing Trainer Course
The College of Health and Fitness works with Excel Self Defence Pty Ltd in offering their online Elite Fitness Boxing trainer Course to our students. This course is nationally recognised & approved by fitness industry peak body Physical Active Australia. The course teaches how to use boxing pads for fitness and is 100% online learning. College of Health and Fitness students can access the course at a discounted rate with the access code available from the College.
